It works more like this:
1) You set your comic to require paid access and define which "preview" mode you wish to apply. This being first x pages of each release, or first x releases total.
2) You release more content. If you chose to have only the first x chapters free, all of this content...
Well, sure -- as would self-publishing on any platform, whether with us or elsewhere. You're right in that it's crucial for us to do a lot of marketing and reader acquisition work though, and we have plans for that. We're looking to staff up to handle this in the very near future. More details...
@JaimeMe -- glad you asked - that's a great question.
Here's a a few things that stand out (there are move reasons, obviously) :-)
1) With a pay-per-page model, there's a much lower barrier to entry for readers - the threshold to trying out new comics and stories is much less daunting without...
Hey guys -- I've posted a big update to this thread here: http://comicbookhour.com/threads/publishing-globalcomix-is-nearing-official-launch-heres-a-sneak-peak-of-what-to-expect.996/
Lots of details to be chewed through :)
@Steven Potts FYI description is now not required for single-page releases :)
Also -- as a heads up, you can add more "points" to each frame (and drag points around) by clicking on the side-line of each frame where you want to add points. This lets you have irregular shaped panels :)
Yay! Glad to hear!
Ah -- no problem. I'll make the description field optional for single page releases.
That also removes the ability to get your fans alerted (onsite and via email) when new releases are out. I'll let me fix the description part for you instead :)
PS: We're also making a...
Sounds like we need to add the "credits" listing on comics soonish then :) Feel free to choose "artist" for now, it will update if we rename it, and you can also change/update this setting in the future if we add more "types".
Ah, yeah -- we've been wondering a bit about this. We're looking to be able to add "credits" type listing to each comic, such as writer/illustrator/translator/etc on a comic level.
For the page creation, it's quite possible we may rename "Artist" page type to "Creator" as a fix for this. Does...
@Polyak Attila noticed you added frames on the first chapter! nice!
Wanted to give a heads up that you can add "points" to the frame paths, so you can include speech bubbles outside the main panel. This is done by clicking on the location of the frame path edge line where you want to add the...
Thanks @Polyak Attila for the feedback! Sorry for the delay in response, let me address:
That's great to hear!
Noted -- we'll add character (x/y) indicators on the fields that have a character cap. The caps are there mostly to give some form of structure as to the expectation of how much...
Turns out there's wifi on the flight! Sweet!
Here's some more answers :)
Yes, we think so, at some point in the future. What this means exactly is a little bit up in the air.
One of the last things we actually want to do is significantly "degrade" the reading experience with banner ads or...
